At the heart of Althea’s robust security is a global network of validators. These validators are crucial in maintaining the consensus mechanism that secures the Althea Network, and their active contributions are pivotal to our ecosystem’s success. Recognizing the essential role that validators play, the Althea Foundation is excited to introduce the Foundation Delegation Framework—a structured initiative designed to reward outstanding validators with $althea delegations.
Why This Matters
The Althea Network thrives on decentralized participation, with validators spread across the globe to ensure both security and resiliency. Our network’s strength is deeply rooted in the diversity and dedication of our validators. Through this new Delegation Framework, we aim to incentivize and reward those validators who not only meet the essential criteria but also go above and beyond in contributing to the Althea ecosystem.
The Criteria for Delegation
To qualify for Foundation delegations, validators must satisfy a set of baseline criteria. These criteria ensure that only those who are consistently professional and contribute value to the network receive delegations. However, validators who take additional steps (detailed in Section 4 of our Delegation Framework) can significantly enhance their chances of receiving these rewards.
Key parameters of the Delegation Framework include:
- Max Validator Commission: While validators are free to set their commission rates, the Foundation will consider the market environment and each validator’s commission rate to ensure that delegations are fair and not exploited. The commission rates will be closely monitored to align with the validator’s contributions to the ecosystem.
- Concentration & Decentralization: Althea is designed to be a decentralized network with validators worldwide. Foundation delegations will be distributed among a large number of eligible validators to maintain this decentralization. However, strategic partners may be granted special delegations on a per-entity basis.
- Delegation Recipient Responsibilities: Validators who wish to receive Foundation delegations must commit to contributing proactively to the Althea community over the long term. This includes active participation in community discussions, technical improvements, and overall network health.
A Living Document
The Delegation Framework is not set in stone. It is a living document that will evolve over time, shaped by the needs of the Network and the ongoing initiatives of the Foundation. We encourage the Althea community to provide feedback, as your insights are invaluable in refining this framework.
We are excited to roll out this new initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our network. Learn more about the delegation program and apply here. We look forward to this next chapter as we continue to build a stronger and more resilient Althea Network together.
